(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Housing is working towards providing social and economic stability in society through sustainable urban planning. This for the establishment of integrated modern cities based on controlled real estate organisation and a framework of transparency.
In the area of Town Planning and Surveying, the ministry is working on preparing plans and determining land usage at the level of cities and villages in coordination with the Supreme Council for Planning. During the period from January to October this year, the ministry prepared more plans and enclaves, which provided more than 18,000 plots for various uses distributed across the governorates of the sultanate.
The land planned for residential use constituted the highest percentage planned. More than 11,000 residential plots were planned in all governorates.
In the field of land distribution, the ministry has distributed more than 34,000 plots in various governorates of the sultanate during this year until the end of October.
The highest percentage of distribution was in the Governorate of Dakhliyah with more than seven with a total of more than 30,000 residential plots.
The system in the sultanate is based on the real estate registration system. This facilitates the smooth and safe circulation of the property in order to preserve rights by registering property in the land registration documents and encouraging investment in all its fields by facilitating legal procedures, land for investment purposes in accordance with the right to use system.
Between January and October of this year, the ministry registered approximately 55,000 plots for the first time for various uses in the sultanate.
The real estate value in the sultanate during the same period amounted to more than RO224,572,100 while the total fees collected through legal actions stood at more than RO70,838,000.
During the period from January to October of this year, 341,619 of the property in the various governorates of the sultanate and the governorate of North Batinah ranked first of the total legal actions.
As for the GCC nationals' ownership of real estate in the sultanate, their number according to the laws of ownership of real estate in the sultanate was 1,210.
The ministry approved a series of measures in order to regulate the real estate sector to meet the growing demand for housing for all segments of society and provide appropriate environment to enable the private sector to attract the necessary investments.
The real estate brokerage system has been activated by granting real estate brokerage offices the powers to complete the real estate transactions in order to activate partnership between the ministry and the private sector to regulate the brokerage business legally. The real estate development procedures included laying the foundation stone for the project of 'integrated residential neighbourhoods' in Barka in South Batinah governorate.
It has 1,000 housing units between different apartments and villas with international specifications.
The ministry provides three housing programmes, namely housing units, housing assistance and housing loans, in accordance with the laws that take into consideration the living and social conditions of this important segment of society.
The number of families benefiting from the housing assistance programme approved and linked during the last year, was 242 families in various governorates. They were paid RO5,200,000. The ministry completed construction projects of 168 housing units and a council with public facilities to a value of RO6,815,343. It also completed the construction of 46 housing units worth more than RO1,980,028, and residential units, mosques, majlis and public facilities in a number of governorates of the sultanate at a total cost of RO452,624.
