California wildfires: Number of missing people jumps to over 1,000

The number of people missing in the devastating wildfire that struck northern California jumped to over 1,000 today, as the remains of 8 other victims were found.
Butte County Sheriff, Kory Honea, said the number of missing had soared from 631 on Thursday to 1,011 yesterday, as more reports of missing were being sent in and emergency calls made are being reviewed.

The eight additional victims bring the number of people who have died in the so-called "'Camp Fire" to 71.
Three other people have died in southern California in another blaze dubbed the "Woolsey Fire".
Both the fires erupted on November 8.
Honea underlined that the list of missing was constantly fluctuating and it didn't mean that all those on the list were presumed dead.

"I want you to understand that this is a dynamic list," the Sheriff said, while talking to the press. "The information I am providing you is raw data and we find there is the likely possibility that the list contains duplicate names," he added.
