Israel to carry out early parliamentary elections

(MENAFN) Israel was announced to have carrying out snap parliament elections in March 26 next year, instead of the original date of November next year.

The decision to hold early elections, reported Ynet, was made by leaders of the coalition factions in Israel's government.

It comes after a series of cabinet resignations, with Avigdor Lieberman stepping down as defense minister, due to the truce secured between Israel and Palestinian factions.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu then rejected a request made by head of the far-right Habayit Hayehudi party Naftali Bennett to be picked as the successor of Lieberman.
