Qatar- Al Khor Park receives more animals of rare species

DOHA: Al Khor Park received a number of new animals for its zoo section which attracts large number of children, especially during weekends and holidays.

The Public Parks Department at the Ministry of Municipality and Environment has enriched the presentation and diversity of the Al Khor Park Zoo, said the Ministry in a statement.

'The Park has been supported vertically by adding new species of rare and attractive animals such as chimpanzees, African maize, Moroccan ram and Australian ostriches, horizontally increased number of some animals like Seeka deer, said Mohammed Ali Al Khouri, Director of Public Parks

He said that the process of enriching and enhancing this diversity in Al Khor Park will continue as the park is expecting some rare species of monkey specially those of endangered species. 'Cages are being modified to create a conducive environment to house such valuable species of animals to ensure their survival and reproduction, said Al Khori.

Doha Zoo had also provided animals to Al Khor Park which received a total of 228 animals and birds of 39 species since its opening in February 2016. Most of these species have been multiplied with reproduction, most recently the birth of the zebras on November 13, and the natural hatching of 32 African turtles. The Zoo of Al Khor Park is under direct veterinary supervision and care by Doha Zoo which supplies fodder, medicines and vaccination.
