31 boys reunited with families in November, says Delhi Police

About 31 boys have been reunited with their families in the past two weeks, Delhi Police said yesterday.
A function was organized in Rohini yesterday on the occasion of Children's Day, where 17 of them were formally handed over to their family members.
The city police, along with NGO SATHI, rescued the boys from different railway stations and inter-state bus terminals in the city.

At the event, each child was given a school bag with some books and clothes, police added. The rescue operation by the Crime Branch and the NGO was conducted between November 1 and 14, said Rajiv Ranjan, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime).
All children belonged to economically backward strata
Observations
Making observations on the rescued boys, Ranjan said, some were residents of Bihar and UP.
Some had been abandoned, while others had left home after being scolded by family members. Most of them had boarded trains without tickets and had reached railway stations in Delhi.
Further, all children belonged to economically backward strata of society and almost all were school dropouts, he noted.
