Oman- Two winners of Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature announced


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science (SQHCCS) on Wednesday announced the two winners of the seventh edition of Sultan Qaboos Award for Culture, Arts and Literature 2018.

Habib bin Mohammed al Riyami, secretary general, SQHCCS, said that in the field of non-tangible cultural heritage (culture), the award went to researcher Hamad bin Abdullah al Skaiti for the study titled 'Tongues of the Omani Najmis in the Governorate of A'Dhahirah'. In the field of short stories (arts), the award went to director Eisa bin Salim al Sobhi for his work titled 'Black Doesn't Suit you'. In the field of traditional poetry under literature category, the award was withheld this year as none of the works met the criteria.

Riyami added that this year's competition comprised three categories open for Omanis only. The number of works that met the requirements for nomination stood at 22 in the field of non-tangible cultural heritage, 32 in short films and 20 in traditional poetry.
