(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The State of Oregon in the western part of the United States has officially recognized the Holodomor famine in Ukraine in 1932-1933 as genocide against Ukrainian people, the Ukrainian Embassy in the United States reports.

The proclamation was signed by Governor of the State of Oregon Kate Brown.

The Embassy added that together with the Ukrainian community in America they spread the truth about the famine-genocide of 1932-1933 in Ukraine.

The State of Oregon has become the 19th state that recognizes this tragedy as genocide and joins events dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Holodomor.
