(MENAFN- Asia Times) A Pakistani man in Dubai who was accused of trespassing into a Filipino woman's room and molesting her while she was asleep has been cleared of all charges.
A 26-year-old waitress had alleged that one night in August while she was sleeping in her company-provided accommodation, which she shared with five other women, the Pakistani man entered her bedroom and began fondling her, Gulf News reported.
When she woke up, the man rushed out of the room, she said. The man allegedly consumed three cans of alcohol prior to the incident. The Filipina woke her roommates and checked the security footage for the hallway near their rooms.
They were able to identify the man and the Filipina filed a complaint at the Al Qusais police station. She told police that the man might have been able to enter her room because she forgot to lock the door.
At the Dubai Court of First Instance, the man was cleared of charges of trespassing and groping the Filipina due to a lack of corroborating evidence. The Pakistani man will instead be tried for consuming alcohol without a license at the Misdemeanours Court.
