Ukraine plans to export 27 mln tonnes of corn in 2018/2019 MY

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukraine expects to export 27 million tonnes of corn in the 2018/2019 marketing year.

President of the Ukrainian Grain Association (UGA) Mykola Horbachov said this in comments to Bloomberg, the UGA's press service reported.

'Ukraine's bumper crop and low prices are helping it ship out corn faster than expected. Exports should mainly go to the European Union, China and Egypt this season,' he said.

The UGA's president stressed that Ukraine hoped to get positive consequences from trade disputes between the United States and China, as well as to intensify the export of barley and sunflower meal to the countries of Asia.

As reported, as of November 13, 2018, Ukrainian farmers gathered 30 million tonnes of corn from an area of 4 million hectares (87%) with a yield of 75.4 centner/ha.
