Oman- Three hospitals to come up at a cost of RO269mn


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- H E Dr Ahmed Mohammed al Sa'eedi, Minister of Health, announced on Tuesday that preparation for construction work of the Sultan Qaboos Hospital at Salalah, Suwaiq Hospital and Khasab Hospital has been initiated.

The three projects will cost RO269mn. The companies with the winning bids started mobilising their equipment to the designated sites for the construction of the hospitals, and provision made for their offices, warehouses and workers.

H E Dr Sa'eedi emphasised that the three new hospitals will serve significant objectives as they will provide comprehensive high-quality diagno-
stics, emergency services, and therapeutic and rehabilitation services for three governorates.

Sultan Qaboos Hospital, Salalah

This new project will be built on a total area of 200,000sq m. The main building of six floors will have a built area of 85,000sq m.

The 700-bed hospital will have a radiology department, three X-ray machines, two CT scan machines, one MRI machine, ultrasound devices, bone-density measuring device, mammogram, a pharmacy and medical laboratories.

Its day-care unit will include endoscopy departments, a lithotripsy machine, nephrology department, operating rooms for minor procedures, a physiotherapy unit, an advanced chemotherapy unit and 25 maternity rooms.

The construction, design, supervision and medical equipment for the hospital will amount to RO135mn.

Suwaiq Hospital

The three-storey hospital will be built on a plot spread over 278,349sq m having a built up area of 33,440sq m and have approximate 250 beds.

Suwaiq Hospital will have an accident and emergency department, outpatient clinics for various with specialties, a radiology department (equipped for CT scan, X-rays and MRI), ultrasound and mammogram facilities. Besides endoscopy and lithotripsy machines, the day-care unit will have a Renal Dialysis Unit. It will also have a sewage treatment plant and a helipad.

The construction, design, supervision and medical equipment for the hospital will amount to RO77mn.

Khasab Hospital

The new Khasab Hospital will be built on a plot measuring 100,000sq m. The three-storey hospital spread over 27,000sq m will include 20 outpatient clinics offering various specialties, X-ray and CT departments, a pharmacy and an accidents and emergency department.

The 150-bed facility will include ICUs (five beds for adults and five beds for children), a burns units (four beds) and an integrated accidents and emergency unit.

The new project will also include a service building, sewage treatment plant and a helipad.

The construction, design, supervision and medical equipment for the hospital will amount to RO57mn.
