AIA Taxi Operator Acquitted Of Assault Charge


(MENAFN- News784) Harold 'Nancy' Fernandez a resident from the community of Glen and a popular Taxi Operator at the Argyle International Airport was on Monday November 12th acquitted on a charge of assault on a Japanese tourist on September 18th, 2018 at the A.I.A.

When Fernandez first appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate Court before Senior Magistrate Rickie Burnett following his arrest, he maintained his innocence and as a result the matter was adjourned and transferred to the Calliaqua Magistrate Court before District Magistrate Zola Browne for trial.

When the matter was called for hearing on Monday November 12th, the tourist was not present and as a result the Court Prosecutor told the Magistrate informed that the case could not go forward due to the complainant's absence who had already left the state.

Reports are that during a fracas between Ferdinand and the complainant that Ferdinand took his hands and slapped the complainant on both sides of his face.

Ferdinand was represented by lawyer Jomo Thomas.
