Kuwait- IICO, rescue team team up for future crises


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Nov 13 (KUNA) -- The International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO) and Kuwait Search and Rescue Team signed a cooperation agreement on Tuesday to support the Team's domestic voluntary operations in times of crises and emergencies.
The Organization decided to sign the renewable one-year agreement due to exceptional weather conditions currently witnessed by the country and resulted in significant damage, IICO Director General Bader Al-Sumait told a press conference.
Through the agreement, the IICO will support the Team's operations and activities during incidents and crises to be seen in the future, he added. The Team has more than 60 Kuwaiti trained volunteers.
According to Al-Sumait, the IICO is examining the possibility of allocating one of its centers to south of Kuwait and assign it as an operations' command headquarters for the Team during crises and major emergencies.
The Kuwait-based IICO is an independent non-political organization, offering a wide range of humanitarian services for people all over the world regardless of their race or nationality. It also provides assistance to the needy in social, economic, educational, medical, and cultural fields as well as urgent relief aid in case of war, natural disasters, epidemics, famines and similar circumstances.
