DOHA: Minister of Culture and Sports H E Salah bin Ghanem Al Ali announced recently the launch of a prize for drama writing, explaining that the annual award will be revealed before the end of this year.
This came at the end of the forum of the drama book organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sports in Doha on two periods: morning and evening under the title / Arab drama and prospects of cultural change, which was attended by many writers of drama, playwrights, producers, directors and critics from Qatar, the Arab world and the world.
The participants in the forum of the drama book concluded with a number of recommendations, the most important of which are the transformation of the drama forum into an annual forum that includes various drama fields of theater, television, cinema, radio for adults and children, as well as the exclusion of drama about political polarization and adherence to its humanitarian and artistic mission.
The participants expressed their desire to organize drama workshops to create works of writing that promote dramatic production, as well as to promote the drama writing on values of freedom, justice, human dignity and the issues of the great nation, and to promote the in-depth approaches to drama writing.
In his opening speech at the Forum of Drama, the Minister criticized the criminal monopoly of the role of heroism in drama, and not focus on instilling values and traditions that help to build society and preserve its values, calling for the revival of that real scene.
The ceremony witnessed the honoring of the late Qatari actor Abdul Aziz Jassim, by screening a film that evokes the most important artistic stations and offers, either on theatre or in front of the camera, as well as presenting a dramatic scene for actors Ahmed Al Miftah and Abdullah Al Asem.
