Oman- PACDA, United Nations sign pact for coordinating emergency relief response


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Public Authority for Civil Defence and Ambulances (PACDA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United Nations Office for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief on Monday.

The MoU was signed from the Omani side by Maj Gen Abdullah bin Ali al Harthy, chairman of PACDA, and from the UN side by Mark Lowcock, United Nations under-secretary-general for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator and head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

The signing of the MoU comes within the efforts made by PACDA and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs to enhance the humanitarian emergency response capabilities through cooperation.

As per the agreement, the two parties will coordinate their efforts during response to emergencies by improving the quality and timing for delivering aid to those in need.
