(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- On Friday, November 16 at Al Bustan Palace Hotel Auditorium, the much awaited annual event for the lovers of Urdu and Hindi poetry will be held under the banner of Urdu Wing of Indian Social Club (ISC).
The gate will open from 6.30pm. Mushairas have played a vital role in preserving and reviving the language and the tahzeeb associated with it. The convener of Urdu Wing, Mohammad Faizi, highlighted the significance of the Mushaira, as a literary artistic presentation of sentiments. Shayers who are well respected in literary circles as well as budding poets get an admirable community stage to showcase their finest skills and express their passion.
Syed Salman, cultural head of Urdu Wing, said, 'Mushaira is uniting people through poetry; in fact, it is a poetic symposium which helps in advancing a multi-cultural and multiethnic image of Urdu language.' He added, 'This year, we are introducing a new tradition of honouring the people who are working towards the development of Urdu language, thereby inviting professor Shehpar Rasool and Qaiser Khalid (an IPS and presently IG Police at Mumbai) to the event.'
Other shayers who will be enthralling the audience are Waseem Barelvi, known for his exemplary work on Urdu poetry; Lata Haya, Urdu poetess, television actress and social activist who is very popular among the masses; Manzar Bhopali, an eminent Urdu poet, plunged into the presentation of poetry at the age of 17; Manish Shula, who is known to be a sensitive poet using Hindi and Awadhi words in the couplets; Nadeem Farrukh, an admired versifier and one of the best nazims of contemporary times who will be taking care of the proceedings of the mushaira; Mehshar Afridi, who is in the emerging league of big names in Urdu poetry and Chandni Pandey, who is a younger generation poetess and is very popular amongst the masses.
The event is presented by Al Omaniya Financial Services, Oman's largest non-banking financial institution.
