DUBAI, 11th November, 2018 (WAM) -- Scientists, researchers and entrepreneurs stressed the need to accelerate transformation to advanced energy technologies and harness them to serve communities in a way that reduces environmental pollution and brings about a radical and positive change in the future of human life.
During the meeting of the Global Future Council on Advanced Energy Technologies, held as part of the third Global Future Councils Annual Meeting, participants discussed the future of advanced energy technology, its development and its impact on the energy systems, industry, consumers and governments. They also explored ways to benefit from advanced energy technology to address pressing global challenges that affect the future global ecosystems.
The meeting tackled ways to enhance better understanding of the relationship between the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and future government work mechanisms, in addition to the positive impact of technology developments on various sectors. It also examined global contributions to incubating projects related to advanced energy technology, in a bid to leverage these techniques to enhance communities' wellbeing and develop solutions in the field of clean and sustainable energy.
Members of the Council reviewed the new technologies that support the advanced energy sector and other technologies that can help reduce energy consumption and life-threatening pollution, ultimately reducing global warming and its significant and costly effects on our planet. They also stressed the importance of rallying concerted efforts of governmental and private entities to support researches designed to develop appropriate solutions to the challenges facing the future of advanced energy.
Participants pointed out that advanced technologies are transforming energy uses. Innovations such as the 5G high-speed Internet, smart sensor technology, energy storage, Artificial Intelligence, advanced materials and manufacturing processes contribute a range of solutions to such challenges and help to create unprecedented opportunities that influence energy supply and demand.
The third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils is held in Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in collaboration between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The meetings bring together more than 700 of the most relevant and knowledgeable scientists, futurists and experts, grouped in 38 expertise-based, thematic councils that discuss the future of vital sectors and develop practical solutions to challenging issues.
