DUBAI, 11th November, 2018 (WAM) -- Participants in Global Future Councils emphasised the importance of developing means and tools to promote investment in the global infrastructure. They also highlighted the importance of making a comprehensive growth that keeps pace with global changes, and foresees the challenges of rapid urbanisation and global economic growth in order to promote government's readiness for the future.
This came during the Global Future Council on Infrastructure held in line with the third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils organised in cooperation between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The Council recommended the enhancement and acceleration of infrastructure projects; implementing them within high standards and quality; benefitting from the tools of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) in supporting comprehensive growth; and finding solutions to challenges in this sector. These steps are significant in particular in the financial aspects, the gap in skills and the lack of unified standards for infrastructure projects.
The participants touched upon the importance of gathering efforts and global expertise to develop infrastructure through sharing best practices in infrastructure investments and overcoming challenges in this vital sector through plans, initiatives and strategies that can foresee the future and be prepared for it.
The Council also discussed factors that affect the success of infrastructure investments, and means to promote efforts of developing the global infrastructure. The Council recommended keeping pace with global challenges, and following up with them continuously.
The Global Future Council on Infrastructure aims to develop the world's infrastructure by foreseeing the future of infrastructure, developing proactive solutions to its challenges, and contribute to the dissemination of knowledge. The Council is an incubator to ideas, initiatives and projects that are porposed by thought leaders and that support the future of infrastructure.
The third Annual Meeting of the Global Future Councils is held in Dubai, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, in collaboration between the UAE Government and the World Economic Forum. The meetings bring together more than 700 of the most relevant and knowledgeable scientists, futurists and experts, grouped in 38 expertise-based, thematic councils that discuss the future of vital sectors and develop practical solutions to challenging issues.
