Bahrain, Egypt committed to Palestinian independence

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, Nov 11 (KUNA) -- Bahrain and Egypt underlined their commitment to Palestinian statehood during foreign minister talks on Sunday.
Khaled bin Ahmad said Manama appreciates Cairo's efforts to bridge the gap between Palestinian factions and its leading role in serving the interests of its Arab neighbours.
Bahrain stands in support of Egypt's efforts to tackle terrorism and fundamentalist thought and terror financiers, the minister added.
For his part, Egypt's Sameh Shoukry said that the Gulf region's security was intertwined with that of his own.
A statement issued after the talks also urged the importance of a political settlement for the nearly eight-year Syrian crisis.
It also expressed the two countries' support for the United Arab Emirates' sovereignty over the three islands of Abu Musa, Greater Tunb, and the Lesser Tunb. (end) hmd.sd
