Trump declares emergency exists in California due to wildfires


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Nov 10 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump declared an "emergency" exists in the State of California and ordered Federal assistance due to the "emergency conditions" resulting from wildfires.
The White House said in a statement, on Friday night, that Trump's action "authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship.
And suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures to save lives and to protect property and public health and safety, and to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in the counties of Butte, Los Angeles, and Ventura." Up to nine people were killed in the northern California Camp Fire, which according to reports, also destroyed "more structures than any fire in state history" while tens of thousands of residents were forced to evacuate their homes.
