UAE- Sharjah International Book Fair reflects Emirati cultural movement: Mohammed Al Gergawi

SHARJAH, 7th November, 2018 (WAM) -- Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and The Future, stated that the Sharjah International Book Fair reflects the image of the Emirati cultural movement, as well as the country's knowledge and creative efforts, while highlighting the presence of Emirati culture around the world.

During his visit to the Sharjah International Book Fair, Al Gergawi said that the country's cultural efforts represent its vision to invest in human capital and create the future.

Al Gergawi, who was accompanied by Ahmed bin Rakad Al Ameri, Chairman of the Sharjah Book Authority, then toured the exhibition, which features over 1,874 publishing houses from 77 countries.

He also viewed the "Sharjah World Book Capital 2019" pavilion and congratulated the emirate for receiving for title from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation, UNESCO, while noting that the award is outcome of the vision and directives of H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who succeeded, over four decades, to present a pioneering model of Arab culture around the world.

Al Gergawi also visited the pavilions of leading publishing houses and viewed the new publications of the Arab Library while expressing his happiness and pride at the international achievements of Arab culture, whether through the experiences of writers and cultured people competing in international awards, or translations to and from Arabic.
