Chinese, Arab energy officials discuss cooperation in Cairo

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Nov 5 (KUNA) -- Chinese and Arab energy and electricity ministers attended the sixth edition of an energy cooperation conference held at the Arab League headquarters on Monday, stressing that their joint trade has climbed five times since 2004.
The conference is part of the ongoing mechanisms brought about by the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF), established in that year.
In a speech, Arab League Assistant Secretary General for Economic Affairs Kamal Hassan said China is now the leading global player in the oil market after replacing the US as the commodity's biggest importer in 2017.
Cooperation between the region and the world's second largest economy presents a wide market, said Hassan, calling on Arab states to seize upon its vast economic, cultural and political opportunities.
The four-day event is discussing electric connectivity, sustainable energy, peaceful nuclear energy uses, oil and gas and investment opportunities in energy. (end) mfm.sd
