On November 1, 2018, the Government of Uzbekistan approved the resolution "On the phased change of prices and tariffs for fuel and energy resources", Podrobno.uz reported referring to the data of the Uzbekenergo JSC.
From November 16, the cost of one kilowatt of electricity will increase to 250 soums (currently 228.60 soums). In addition, on June 1, 2019, there will be another increase - to 280 soums.
In addition, it is planned to introduce quotas for the consumption of electricity and gas for the first time in the country, as an experiment. The Yunusabad district of Tashkent will be the pilot area of the project.
Here, starting from January 1, 2019, the benchmark quota of electricity consumption will be 300 kW / hour per month per consumer, the benchmark quota of gas consumption - 1,000 cubic meters per month per consumer for private houses during the heating season and 250 cubic meters per month per consumer in other cases. For the consumption volumes being within the limits of these quotas, the payment will be executed at the rates established by the state, and for the consumption volumes exceeding the quotas the payment will be executed by using the coefficient of 1.2.
According to the results of the pilot project, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, Uzbekenergo JSC and Uzbekneftegaz JSC will have to prepare by July 1, 2019 the proposals for the further introduction of the benchmark quotas throughout the country.
