Azerbaijan completing development of 3 agriculture programs: minister

Azerbaijan is completing development of three state programs - the State Program for Intensive Development of Livestock and Effective Use of Pastures, the State Program for Development of Grain Growing, and the State Program for Development of Seed Growing, reads an article by Azerbaijan's Agriculture Minister Inam Karimov, published by the official press.

As a result of successfully pursued agriculture policy in Azerbaijan, favorable market conditions were formed and business activity expanded significantly, according to the article.

"This also affected the increase in the number of employees and the growth in investment. Due to the increased capacity of local production and the growth of competitiveness in Azerbaijan, food self-sufficiency has increased significantly,' reads the article.

'When Azerbaijan restored its independence, this indicator for meat and dairy products was 30-35 percent - now it is approaching 90 percent. The level of self-sufficiency in all types of vegetables and fruits exceeds 100 percent.'

In line with the instruction of the Azerbaijani president, the work to develop the State Program for Intensive Development of Livestock and Effective Use of Pastures, the State Program for Development of Grain Growing and the State Program for Development of Seed Growing has entered its final stage.
