Around 1,000 Syrian refugees leaving Istanbul

Around 1,000 Syrian refugees are leaving Istanbul and return to Syria's al-Bab and Afrin cities, which were previously liberated by the Turkish armed forces from terrorists, the Turkish media reported on Nov. 1.

According to the message, by the end of 2018 about 6,000 Syrian refugees are expected to leave Istanbul and return to the territories liberated from terrorists.

Presently, there are 3 million Syrian refugees in Turkey.

On Jan. 20, the Turkish Armed Forces, together with the Free Syrian Army, launched the Operation Olive Branch in Afrin, Syria.

On Aug. 24, 2016, units of the Turkish Armed Forces began the Operation Euphrates Shield against the "Islamic State" and with the support of the Syrian opposition liberated the border town of Jarablus in northern Syria, as well as al-Bab.
