KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30, (KUNA): Kuwait's Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Olympic Shooting Complex is set to host over 600 sharp shooters from across Asia, including men and women, for 11-day continental shotgun and airgun championships on Saturday.

The Asian Shotgun and Asian Airgun Championships will witness 15 individual and five team events for men, 10 individual and four team events for women and 10 individual and three team events for boys and girls in the U-21 age group.

These include trap, skeet along with air rifle and air pistol events, organising committee chief Duaij Al-Otaibi told the pre-tournament press conference.

Kuwaiti marksmen are aptly prepared for the competition, and have proven themselves on numerous occasions on the global stage, he added.

The competition will kick off with what promises to be an opening ceremony 'befitting the magnitude of the tournament,' revealed Al-Otaibi, who expressed the organisers' hopes it would be an opportunity to build bridges of understanding amongst the people of the continent.

Meanwhile, competing teams are beginning to arrive and have already begun training at the hosting venue's shooting ranges, Kuwait Shooting Club Secretary Obaid Al-Osaimi said.
