Kuwait- CBK organizes sovereign ratings workshop on coordination with S&P


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, Oct 29 (KUNA) -- The Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) will organize a workshop, in coordination with Standard and Poor's (S&P), on sovereign ratings and banks' credit ratings methodology, on October 30-31.
The workshop is part of the Bank's social responsibility to enhance financial stability in the country and develop the capabilities of national cadres in the financial and economic fields, CBK Governor Dr. Mohammad Al-Hashel said in a statement Monday.
The two-day workshop will tackle number of issues related to the methodology of sovereign assessment and credit rating for banks, including the effectiveness of governance, economic structure, growth prospects, financial flexibility in financial performance and risk assessment of the banking industry of countries, he added.
The participants will be briefed on the methodology used to evaluate banks and the rules of valuation of bonds issued by banks, he said.
CBK invited many local bodies to participate in this workshop, including the Ministry of Finance and the Kuwait Investment Authority and local banks, Al-Hashel added.
Al-Hashel has expressed appreciation to Standard & Poor's for their cooperation in setting up this workshop, stressing the Bank's continued role in developing national cadres in various financial and economic fields through the establishment of such workshops and activities. (end) fnk.fh.ss
