Egypt Post to offer traffic tickets payment services by November: MCIT


(MENAFN- Daily News Egypt) Egypt Post will offer traffic tickets payment services through its branches starting from November, the minister of communications and information technology Amr Talat said.

The ministry has 4,000 post offices nationwide offering various services, including school expenses payment, housing units applications, bills payment.

During the American Chamber of Commerce conference on Thursday, Talaat added that the world's second largest submarine communications cables network passes through Egypt, connecting Asia, Europe and Africa, which strengthens Egypt's presence on the global communications sector.

He noted that the Egyptian telecommunications sector's digital exports amount to about $2.2bn, pointing out that it also supports the country's financial inclusion strategy in cooperation with the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE).

He added that Egypt has a developed outsourcing industry thanks to a large base of qualified youth who can work in various languages.

Talaat stressed that the telecommunications sector contributes by 5% to the total GDP, compared to 1.5% in the past years, and its responsibility goes beyond economic roles as the sector absorbs a large number of young graduates.

The minister added that Egypt is currently producing a local-made mobile phone and plans to provide tablets to school students.
