Bahraini King expresses pride in solid ties with US


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) MANAMA, Oct 26 (KUNA) -- Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa expressed his pride in his country's historic and solid relationship and partnership with the United States, official media reported Friday.
Bahrain-US ties are based on a long history of mutual trust, respect, and joint coordination aimed to attain common interests of the two countries and people, King Hamad said while receiving US Defense Secretary James Mattis in Manama, according to Bahrain News Agency.
Mattis is currently in the Kingdom to take part in the 14th IISS Manama Dialogue.
King Hamad lauded the steady progress in the two countries' bilateral ties, affirming keenness to enhance them in all fields, particularly military coordination and defense cooperation.
The Bahraini monarch also hailed the US Administration's "effective" efforts and "pivotal" role in strengthening security, stability, and peace in the region, reiterating the Kingdom's constant support of the US efforts.
He also expressed appreciation of Mattis' efforts toward enhancing Bahrain-US military and defense cooperation.
The two sides exchanged views on subjects of mutual interest, in addition to the ongoing events in the region, and key issues that are to be discussed at the Manama Dialogue. (end) hmd.ma
