HODEIDAH, 25th October, 2018 (WAM) -- A delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent, ERC, headed by Saeed Al Kaabi, UAE's Humanitarian Operations Director for Yemen, has visited Al Qataba Health Centre in Hodeidah governorate.

The delegation reviewed the centre's medical and technical needs within the framework of the ERC's projects to build and rehabilitate the infrastructure and vital facilities in the health sector and strengthening its abilities in the liberated areas to serve the suffering people of Yemen.

During the visit, in the presence of Dr. Al Hassan Ali Taher, Hodeidah Governor, the ERC delegation answered the queries of Yemeni patients and offered immediate necessary support to their families, which strengthened their resolve to face the difficult humanitarian conditions.

Al Kaabi said that the UAE accords the Yemeni health sector utmost importance and the developmental and service projects, in the recently liberated areas that provide appropriate therapeutic services especially for children, women, and the elderly, are of the utmost priority.

He added that visiting Al Qataba Health Centre and identifying its needs is within the ERC's efforts to support the Yemeni health sector by rehabilitating the health centres and hospitals and supplementing them with medical devices, tools and equipment, and modern medicines, which confirm the UAE's comprehensive humanitarian and relief work towards the brotherly Yemenis.

Dr. Al Hassan Ali Taher said that the ERC's support to the health sector on the Red Sea Coast of Yemen, in addition to rehabilitating the vital sectors, contributes greatly to facilitating the lives of Yemeni citizens already suffering from the shelling and destruction of hospitals and health centres by pro-Iran Houthi militias.

He clarified that the directive to rehabilitate Al Qataba Health Centre is an extension of the humanitarian works done by the UAE in the liberated Yemeni governorates.

The medical staff at Al Qataba Health Centre offered thanks to the UAE for its humanitarian stance in serving the people of Yemen, particularly in the health sector.
