Qatar- More than 20,000 people vaccinated against flu within a week: MOPH

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) called on all citizens and residents aged 6 months and older and people who are most vulnerable to complications of influenza to obtain a vaccine for seasonal flu. In this regard, the Ministry recommended that vaccination should include people with chronic diseases such as diabetes, asthma, heart and lung disease, kidney disease, spleen and cancer patients, the elderly (over the age of 65), children between the ages of 6 months and five years, pregnant women and health workers.

The Ministry added that vaccination is available free of charge to all citizens and residents in all primary health care centers, as well as in 48 hospitals, health centers and private clinics.

The Ministry said that 20,879 people from all age groups were vaccinated with seasonal flu until Sunday, a week after the joint vaccination campaign launched in cooperation with Hamad Medical Corporation and the Primary Health Care Corporation under the slogan "Stop the Flu", and will continue until next April.

The Ministry also stressed the importance of the initiative to receive seasonal influenza vaccine to help prevent the complications resulting from influenza, especially in populations with high risk factors.
