KUWAIT CITY, Oct 21: After the first week of the 2-week championship finals of the Philippine Bowling Association in Kuwait 2018 Invitational Cup Team Tournament held at Kheifan COZMO Recreational and Bowling Center the standing of the finalists were: COZMO Lane Masters (2,891), Pongky Strikers (2,890), Swooping Eagles (2,848), X-Pin D'Bowls (2,813), 'X' Strikers (2,771), and TGIF (2,671).
Out of six finalists of the Invitational Cup, COZMO and X-Pin D'Bowls were considered colossus of the league due to 2 Class As' comprising the first 5 team bowlers. Rest were only class Bs and Cs, that's why handicapping was applied to make it equal for summation of gathered points plus team handicap for the total points per event. Pongky Strikers team were one of the dark horses in the league but with their significant statistical data, improved team performance plus twenty marks handicap were their aces in hand to compete with the giants in the tournament for the championship or the first runners-up position. In the final judgement day, it was repulsive to see when Pongky Strikers showed up with just three players, this time considered wobbly and flimsy to contend and clash for the coveted prizes.
After Game 3 the top notch COZMO faced their potential rival the X-Pin D'Bowls in the penultimate game with the score of 981-954. The X-Pin 5-man team played below par while COZMO's team played above average that resulted to outscoring the former and win the game and upkeep the top rank. Despite the loss X-Pin move upward from fourth to third position. TGIF won their game against the undermanned Pongky Strikers 927-837 but could not help to turn out as the tail-ender while Pongky dropped down tremendously from second to fifth spot. The match-up between Swooping Eagles and 'X' Strikers (921-962) and the win-lose resulted significantly when both teams moved up from their present rankings – from third to second spot for the Eagles and fifth to fourth position for 'X' Strikers.
In the final game, COZMO team easily demolished the Swooping Eagles 951-911 and were infallible to take home the championship trophy while Swooping Eagles slid to fourth place. 'X' Strikers murdered the TGIF team 957-875 and the win-lose result was favorable for 'X' Men snatching the third spot. The X-Pin D'Bowls devastated the Pongky Strikers 995-852 that brought them to second spot while Pongky Strikers were stuck at fifth place. The final standings, scores and finals' team members were as follows: 1. COZMO (4,850), Ronell Valencia, Noe Mahayag, Lito Michael, Ibrahim Dubayan, Ely Ebrada, Bader Malalah and Ruben Cervantes; 2. X-Pin D'Bowls ( 4,762), Rudy de Lima, Moises Amahan, Sonia Mathews, Mohammad Karam, Fadi Masri and Mohammad Abdullah; 3. 'X' Strikers (4,690), Rocky Castil, Cris Carungay, Joe Presenta, Bima Nitikusumo, Abel Nitikusumo and Imelda Daguio; 4. Swooping Eagles (4,680), Alonzo Bush, Riz Roque, Darrell Sullivan, Jessica Balagat, Mona Corpuz, Clinton Cathers and Danny Solis; 5. Pongky Strikers (4,579), Jess Tolentino, Jocelyn Barros, Jhon Narvasa, Gener Calingasan and Imelda Calingasan and 6. TGIF (4,473), Joel Tizon, Eddie Pena, Pilar Patula, Rene Marzan, Sam Bhebehani and Camilo Baker.
After the tabulation of final scores, PBAK President Rudy De Lima acting as emcee called the Vice-President Ms Sonia Mathews and the tournament directors, Lito Michael, Joel Tizon, Cris Carungay, Joe Presenta, Eddie Pena and Adolfo Prena to award the major, cash and special prizes to the winners and recipients. The COZMO team led the five teams in the awarding ceremony held simultaneously after the lane battle.
