(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Muscat Eye Laser Centre's Medical Director and Scientific Director, Dr Maria Clara Arbelaez (Corneal and Refractive Surgery consultant), was invited to present and speak on the latest advancements in ophthalmology at the 36th Congress of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS) held recently in Vienna, Austria.
The ESCRS promotes education and research in the field of the implant and refractive surgery and advances the study and practice of ophthalmology. With nearly 9,400 ophthalmologists in attendance from 130 countries worldwide, the society offers a unique forum for top-notch ophthalmologists all over the world to share and discuss the latest advancements. The five-day conference had a variety of symposia, poster sessions, instructional courses and workshops on the current trends in ophthalmology, and also included an exhibition on new technologies.
Dr Maria presented papers at ECRS on the recent developments in refractive surgery. She authored a paper on advanced treatment for myopia correction and also co-authored studies on TransPRK and Astigmatism correction. She said, 'The congress was an excellent platform to share knowledge and to present the results of the studies that have been conducted in Muscat Eye Laser Centre. It is important to be in touch with the most advanced technology and be part of the latest developments in the industry.'
As a specialist in the field of refractive surgery, her active participation at an international event for key leaders in the world of ophthalmology for more than 20 years is an honour that speaks volumes of her dedication and expertise. Dr Maria also participated in the tenth Expert Meeting on the 'Surgical Management of Keratoconus Patients' in Vienna recently.
