Coalition in Syria fires airstrikes on IS militants


(MENAFN) The Islamic State (IS) was reported on Sunday to have been hit with violent airstrikes by the Russian-led coalition in Syria.

The airstrikes were launched after receiving tips from the Iraqi intelligence after its forces breached the IS militants.

Al-Sabah newspaper reported the coalition to have prevented schemes the terrorists organized to attack a number of countries.

The coalition which comprises Iraq, Syria and Iraq left several IS terrorists dead amid the air attack on their posts in Hajin area in eastern Syria.

"The Iraqi intelligence which penetrated the terrorist organization, provided the Russia-led coalition with intelligence information about the positions and movement of Daesh (IS group) militants," as reportedly stated Abu Ali al-Basri, head of intelligence office in Iraqi Interior Ministry.
