Israeli occupation postpones evacuation of village in West Bank

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, Oct 20 (KUNA) -- The Israeli occupational authorities decided to postpone the evacuation of Khan Al-Ahmar village in the West Bank, eastern Jerusalem, until further notice, Israeli media reported Saturday.
Sources in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said the decision was made in order to look into different offers that were made before forcefully evicting residents, according to Haaretz newspaper.
An Israeli court ruled, on September 5, in favor of demolishing housing in Khan Al-Ahmar; a controversial step met by strong opposition by Palestinians.
Israeli forces attacked a peaceful protest in Khan Al-Ahmar village on Friday, causing injuries to 20 participants.
The protest aimed to prevent Israelis authorities from demolishing Khan Al-Ahmar village, which is part of their various schemes to expand illegal Jewish settlements, the Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission said.
Israeli forces assaulted the congregation in eastern Jerusalem using brute force and pepper spray to disperse the crowds, added CWRC. (end) nq.ma
