Abdul al-Saadi claims men's double trap gold

(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Abdul Basit al-Saadi claimed men's double trap gold at the Qatar Shooting and Archery Association (QSAA) Cup at the Lusail Complex Friday.
Masoud Hamad al-Athba won the silver, while Masoud Ali al-Naaba claimed the bronze.
The competitions are being held as part of Qatar shooters' preparations for the forthcoming Asian Championships to be held in Kuwait, and the Arab Championships which will be held in Doha next month.
The penultimate day of the ten-day long competition saw intense contests. In the mixed air rifle running target event, Mohamed Abutaima emerged the best with Amal Mohamed came second. Anisa Saleh finished third.
Aisha al-Suwaidi topped the 50m Air rifle prone event in the women's section. In the men's 50m air rifle event, Ali al-Qahtani stood out with the best performance followed by Abdullah al-Maatid and Ali al-Marqaab.
In the skeet competition, Masoud Hamad and Sarah Mohamed are leading after the first day.
Tournament director Ali al-Mannai and Al-Anoud al-Naimi, member of the teams committee, congratulated the winners. Al-Naimi said the shooters have shown promise, especially after the competition in the women's and girls' competitions. Abdul Basit al-Saadi said that the gold medals are not easy to achieve but if the focus and the efforts are exerted in the right way, it helps to achieve success.
'In today's contest, the last shot made the big difference between me and Masood al-Athba. I am always trying to develop my skill, especially after the training camps and experience of playing in overseas tournaments which enabled me fetch the first place in the competition today in the double trap, said al-Saadi.
