(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources (MRMWR) has stated that it will soon issue a public tender for the establishment and operation of the Central Market for Livestock and Slaughterhouse and its ancillaries in the wilayat of Suwaiq in North Batinah.
The ministry said, 'The project, which will include several stages, comes in line with the aspirations of the ministry towards developing the municipal work system and providing services at a better level in accordance with the development plans in the sultanate.
'The project supports the economy and achieves integration between food security projects to make the sultanate an attractive centre for import and re-export. It also attracts the private sector into investment projects to contribute actively to the development of production and the establishment of added-value industries, in addition to deriving economic and commercial benefit from Omani ports. It will also provide employment opportunities for young Omanis, as well as support SMEs.'
The ministry added, 'The selection of the wilayat of Suwaiq for the establishment of this project was because it enjoys a location linking a number of governorates of the sultanate, and the wilayat has recently witnessed the commercial operations of Suwaiq port, which will in turn contribute to the activation of economic movement and receiving various types of goods, including livestock.'
