Riyadh denies any meeting between Saudi, Israeli chiefs of staff

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RIYADH, Oct 17 (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Wednesday dismissed as groundless reports about an alleged meeting between the Saudi Chief of the General Staff Maj. Gen. Fayyad bin Hammad Al-Ruwaili and his Israeli counterpart Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot. Such a news item is a baseless and unfounded concoction, an official source at the Kingdom's Ministry of Defense said in a statement aired by the Saudi Press Agency. The source reaffirmed that no such bilateral meeting has ever taken place, neither during that meeting nor elsewhere.
In a statement however, noted that the both of them have participated in an international meeting of defense chiefs of staff, held at Andrews Air Force Base, in order to discuss means to confront violent extremist groups, with 81 countries' participation, on 15-16 October 2018.
The meeting included a formal dinner for all participants, in honor of the Chairman of the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. (end) mdm.ibi
