Bangladesh: 2 female militants hand themselves amid raid


(MENAFN) Two suspected female militants have handed themselves after Bangladeshi security forces attacked the hideout of an outlawed Islamist group under siege in the country's Narsingdi district since Monday night.

Bangladesh's Counter-Terrorism Police Unit Chief Monirul Islam confirmed that the mission to evacuate the second militant hideout in the district, east of the capital Dhaka's northeastern region, was done.

He added that the female suspects, whom are student of a private university in Dhaka, given up to police at around 3:00 p.m. local time.

Security forces coordinated off two blocks in different areas in the district Monday night that they believed to be militant hideouts.
