Key Taliban commander killed in Samangan


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) Local officials on Wednesday said the Taliban commander for Hazrat Sultan district of central Samangan province have been killed during a clash.

Munir Rahimi, provincial police chief, said Mullah Taza Gul was killed during a clash with Afghan Local Police (ALP) forces in Taikhonak area of the district late on Tuesday.

Two ALP members were also killed in the clash, he said.

Security situation in Dara-I-Suf Payen and Dara-I-Suf Bala districts of Samangan has also recently deteriorated.

A day earlier, Taliban several Afghan soldiers including Samangan deputy police chief, Col. Khawani, were killed in a Taliban attack in Dara-I-Suf Payen district.
