Elections a national process and belong to all: Danish


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) Second vice-president Sarwar Danish on Tuesday urged the people of Afghanistan to fully participate in the upcoming Wolesi Jirga elections.

Danish was addressing a gathering marking €œthe Week of Sacrifice, Empathy and Cooperation with the victims of natural disasters and conflict€ organized by Hilal Ahmar Afghani here.

The VP said the government and the Independent Election Commission (IEC) both were well prepared to hold transparent and fair Wolesi Jirga polls and urged the people to use their past electoral experience in casting their vote to elect their representatives.

€œDuring the past months, many people whether they were asked or not sprayed poison in the domestic and foreign media day and night to disappoint our people, but the people of Afghanistan with the experience and bitterness they saw in the past consciously proceeded towards their collective destiny and civil rights.€

He said despite problems the government and the election commission as their legal duty took all technical and security preparations and tried to do their best.

Danish said the elections were a national process and belonged to all people of Afghanistan. €œIn fact people are main owners of the elections.€
