EU sees boost in consumer prices


(MENAFN) The European Union (EU) was found to have recorded in September a 2.2 percent boost in its consumer prices.

The EU witnessed stability in the rate of its early inflation last month, compared to the figure posted in August, statistical authority Eurostat showed in a statement on Wednesday.

The statistical authority also pointed out that the EU's inflation rate stood at 1.8 percent during the same period in 2017.

The authority revealed that Denmark was struck by the lowest annual rate as it registered 0.5 percent, followed by Greece with 1.1 percent and Ireland with 1.2 percent.

Eurostat also unveiled Romania to have seen the highest with 4.7 percent, while Hungary posted 3.7 percent and Bulgaria 3.6 percent.

It added "compared with August 2018, annual inflation [in September] fell in nine Member States, remained stable in four and rose in fourteen."
