Australia to suffer grave impact of Jerusalem embassy relocation: OIC

(MENAFN) The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) stressed that Australia is bound to suffer from serious consequences after moving its embassy to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.

The OIC, based in Saudi Arabia's Jeddah, urged for Canberra to avoid taking "such an illegal step, which constitutes a violation of international law and UN Security Council resolutions."

Jerusalem has been part of the Palestinian land of which Israel took over in 1967, as noted OIC Secretary-General Yousef bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen.

In its statement, OIC warned stressed that it "rejects any action or attempt that would prejudice the legal status of the occupied city of Jerusalem."

Al-Othaimeen also sent an appeal to Australia to back the two-state resolution with a stance to secure peace and push for regional and world safety.
