MAN Energy Solutions plans to expand services to marine industry in Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Engineering services provider, MAN Energy Solutions (MES) is looking to expand its footprint in Oman by offering marine engines and services through its joint-venture partner.

MES operates in three main business verticals: Oil and gas, power plants, and marine engines and services.

'We are looking to expand our support services to marine industry in Oman, particularly in Duqm where the new port is being constructed. As already a significant marine traffic is there, and is likely to rise, we were thinking we could start servicing marine engines in Duqm,' Wayne Jones, head of sales and member of the executive board at MES told Muscat Daily.

He said providing marine engine services in Duqm make sense for the company as lots of container carriers and other marine vehicles already have MES engines.

Jones said things are still in the planning stage and they might look at setting up a satellite workshop in Duqm linked with their newly opened service workshop in Rusayl.

MES recently opened its MAN PrimeServ one-stop workshop in Rusayl in a joint venture with local agent OHI Petroleum and Energy Services, for providing repair and maintenance services to the oil and gas sector in Oman.

'If everything goes as per the plan, we might start offering marine engine services in Duqm from 2020 onward,' Jones added.
