Tajik minister urges closer energy ties between Dushanbe, Tehran

Tajik Minister of Energy and Water Resources Usmonali Usmonzoda said Dushanbe and Tehran could forge closer cooperation in the sector of energy.

In a recent meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi in Dushanbe, Usmonzoda hailed the current level of ties between the two countries, the official website of Iran's Foreign Ministry reported on October 13.

He added that the two nations have great potential to enhance their energy ties.

Usmonzoda also praised the performance of the Iranian companies and engineers in his country' development projects.

Sarmadi has traveled to Tajikistan to attend a two-day conclave of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which was expected to focus on boosting cooperation in fighting terrorism, besides deliberating on pressing regional and global issues.
