Algeria defeats Benin in AFCON 2019 qualifier


(MENAFN) Algeria claimed a 2-0 victory against Benin, taking one step closer to realize its goal of advancing to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2019).

The Algerian football team won the qualifier after Bensebaini opened the scoring for the Desert Foxes, with Bounedjah doubling the lead.

The team snatched victory in Day 3 of Group D qualifiers in Blida Stadium, as the second leg sets to be held in the Gambian capital of Banjul on October 16.

Algeria was able to lead group D with 7 points, followed by Benin with 4 points, with Togo and the Gambia both settling for the final place with 2 points each.
