QC distributes school bags to Tunisian children

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) With the continuous generous support from the Qatari sponsors, Qatar Charity (QC) distributed school bags to 1,550 children in several governorates of Tunisia, which came in conjunction with the beginning of the new school year.

This seasonal project falls within social welfare efforts of ‘Rofaqa, a Qatar Charity initiative for orphan care. The project contributes to supporting the education of orphans and children of needy families, as it is one of their basic rights.
A large number of children in Tunisia drop out of school due to the poverty of their families and the inability of their parents to meet the school expenses.
The school bags, which included books, notebooks and other school supplies, were distributed to orphans and children belonging to the families in need in several Tunisian governorates such as Ariana, Manouba, Jendouba, Kef and Mahdia.
The parents of beneficiary students expressed their gratitude over receiving these valuable and timely gifts from the people of Qatar, which reduced their burdens that come with the start of each academic year.

They extended their thanks to sponsors and benefactors for supporting this project, which contributes to alleviating their suffering to meet the needs of their families.
Also, QC's office in Tunisia held a 3-day training course on behavioural education for orphans in the country as well as for their mothers to teach them the mechanisms and methods of effective education and positive communication.
The course witnessed a clear interaction from the orphans and their mothers, and was highly appreciated by its participants.
QC, as part of the efforts of its ‘Rofaqa' initiative, sponsors 1,581 persons in Tunisia including poor families, orphans, people with special needs, and teachers, of whom 1,473 are orphaned girls and boys.
The number of those sponsored by the charity within the ‘Rofaqa' initiative reached 185,000 people worldwide so far. The growing number of the sponsored in recent months reflects the love of doing good by Qatari people and their trust in QC and its comprehensive care services provided for orphans.
It is worth mentioning that QC provides social welfare services, including orphans' sponsorship since its establishment. At the end of 2013, the charity launched ‘Rofaqa, as a humanitarian initiative that focusses on the issues of children and orphans worldwide by organising effective programmes that contribute to confronting all threats to their lives.
