Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 27

By Azad Hasanli – Trend:

Russia is working to reduce barriers in cooperation with Azerbaijan, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maksim Oreshkin said.

Oreshkin made the remarks in Baku on Sept. 27 at an expanded meeting of the Azerbaijani-Russian and Russian-Azerbaijani business councils within the 9th Azerbaijan-Russia interregional forum.

"A special mechanism was created to remove barriers to trade,' the minister said. 'We are working with the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economy within this mechanism. It is clear that when we have such active trade and economic relations, questions always appear. So we created a new format. The corresponding officials gather and review the issues that arise between businessmen in Azerbaijan and Russia monthly."

'The main goal is to create "green corridors" for the movement of goods in all directions between Russia and Azerbaijan,' he said. 'Azerbaijan and Russia will work not only to expand the supply of goods, but also to create joint ventures.'

'In particular, various projects are being discussed in the field of agriculture beginning from the supply of fertilizers and agricultural equipment from Russia to Azerbaijan and ending with the supply of Azerbaijani products to the Russian retail chains,' he said.

The 9th Azerbaijan-Russia interregional forum started its work in Baku Sept. 27.

The event is aimed at developing trade, economic and humanitarian ties between the regions of the two countries and will become a platform for joint work of Russia and Azerbaijan, including the relevant ministers, extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of both countries, the business community and experts.
