India seeks boosting strategic ties with Oman

(MENAFN) India was confirmed to be aiming to bolster its strategic relations with Oman while hosting Omani defence minister Bader bin Saood Al Busaidi.

India is looking to address several topics with the Omani minister, such as an early commencement of Duqm port operations for its navy.

During the visit, India was also unveiled to be planning to discuss a training program of Omani military troops in India.

Muscat welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February, when both sides secured eight deals.

A joint statement announced: "the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation to strengthen maritime security in the Gulf and the Indian Ocean regions, vital for the security and prosperity of both countries."
