Chinese police nab 21 suspects over stealing data


(MENAFN) Police in east China's Zhejiang Province have nabbed 21 suspects of abducting at least 10 million pieces of data, with client information among them, from Alibaba's delivery arm Cainiao Network.

Police in Hangzhou were notified by the logistics company that barcode scanners deployed in its distribution stations has been damaged by malware which sent the gathered information to remote cloud servers.

Cainiao added that the information involved the identities of the logistic companies, user names, phone numbers and parcel tracking numbers.

Local police have carried out operations in the provinces of Anhui, Jiangsu and Shandong, and detained the suspects, from July to September.
