Turkmen president to attend UN General Assembly session

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's working visit to New York to participate in the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly is scheduled for September 29, Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry said in a message on Sept. 21.

Top-level meetings are also planned, according to the visit's agenda.

In accordance with the priority positions of Turkmenistan, at the UN General Assembly's session, Turkmenistan will propose to declare 2019 "Year of Peace and Confidence" and hold a conference on disarmament in Ashgabat.

Turkmenistan also proposes to establish a global partnership to protect the interests of young people. In this regard, Turkmenistan is ready to host an international youth forum. One of the main topics of the forum will be the preparation of proposals on the structure, composition, methods of work and other issues of the new organization.

Last time Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the session of the UN General Assembly in September 2015.
